Beto O’Rourke: ‘The House Should Move Forward on Impeachment’

‘We can wait 7 or 8 years to get the facts but I don’t think this democracy has that time’

EXCERPT:

O’ROURKE: “And to us, that we are not protected by our President. And that committee, unable to get the full report, the underlying evidence, the facts that we need to determine both what happened and how to prevent it from happening again, the only vehicle — and I’m not an attorney, but I've listened to those who are smart on this issue — the only vehicle by which we can obtain the evidence, the facts, the truth, is through impeachment. We can hold Attorney General Barr in contempt of Congress, we can take this to the courts — you know, a Republican Congress took Attorney General Eric Holder to the courts to try to get evidence around the Fast and Furious gun-running program. I think that was in 2012, that issue has just been resolved in 2018. So we can wait seven or eight years to get the facts but I don’t think this democracy has that time. So yes, the House should move forward on impeachment, there has to be consequences."
