MSNBC: Buttigieg Is the Only Top 2020 Candidate Not Offering Staffers Health Care

‘Despite his position on access to health care ... his campaign is not providing health care for staffers’

EXCERPT:

LEDERMAN: "Well, we found out, Mika, that as of now, the Buttigieg campaign doesn't offer health care coverage to their staffers. Instead, what they have been doing is providing a $400 monthly stipend to their salaried workers to basically take that money and go buy their own plan on the ObamaCare exchanges. And depending on your situation, if you have kids, a spouse, that should be enough to cover one person through a silver plan in most parts of the country, we found. But he's not — all of the other campaigns, the leading Democrats are providing health care coverage to their workers as they go around the country campaigning on things like what Buttigieg's been saying, about how important health care is, the ability to not worry about losing your health care as you go from job to job. So, the Beto O'Rourke campaign, Elizabeth Warren, Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, all of these candidates are providing direct health care. Their staffers can buy into Aetna, or Blue Cross Blue Shield, or United, just like most Americans with their employers. And I think, Mika, what this illustrates is some of the scrutiny that Pete Buttigieg is now going to come under, now that he’s playing with the big boys and girls, he's a top-tier candidate and he’s going to have the way he operates looked at with the same level of scrutiny as folks like Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren, who have been in the game for quite a long time."
