Trump: I Don’t Think We’ll Have to Close the Border, Because Tariffs on Cars Coming from Mexico Will Be ‘Massive’

‘They have the strongest immigration laws, as strong as there is anywhere in the world’

EXCERPT:

TRUMP: “What’s happened on our southern border is a disgrace. And Mexico has brought people back. They’ve told people, you can’t come in. And that’s happened really over — they’ve done, as I understand it, over a thousand today, over a thousand people yesterday, over a thousand people the day before. Before that, they never did anything. So if we don’t — and they have the strongest immigration laws, as strong as there is anywhere in the world. They can do it, if they want to do it. They’ve never really wanted to do it, for many, many years. And we’ve told them, if you don’t do that, we’re going to close the border. But before we close the border, we’ll put the tariffs on the cars. I don’t think we’ll ever have to close the border, because the penalty of tariffs on cars coming into the United States from Mexico, at 25 percent, will be massive."
