Geraldo: I Don’t Think it Amounts to a ‘Hill of Beans’ that Pentagon Is Leaking Attack Plans

‘I don’t think that operationally, it will mean very much. Everybody in the world knows that [we’re] ... getting ready to retake Mosul ... where I was almost killed’

“I don’t think that operationally it will mean very much. Everybody in the world knows that the Iraqi army and the Kurdish forces and the American air power, et cetera, are getting ready to try to retake Mosul, Iraq’s second largest city, where I was almost killed. Our car got hit 14 times in an ambush going into Mosul. I’ve been there many times. It is a tragedy that we let it fall. I keep going back -- this stuff is interesting. The fact they’re telegraphing -- April is when the invasion will come and all the rest of it, which is when the fighting season typically begins.

I don’t think that operationally it means a hill of beans. But what bugs me is that I am reminded of how we allowed Mosul to fall in the first place. We knew that they were putting these probes out across the Syrian border toward Mosul up in the north of Iraq. We did so little to stop it. The president was so slow in getting to start hitting ISIS ...

I wish that a little bit of preparation and a faster response might have averted the need to retake a crowded metropolitan area. Are we going to level Mosul now? I mean, in the retaking of it? Do we destroy it? Do we kill civilians? How do we retake it? It is not going to be easy.”
