Engel: Obama’s Decision To Arm the Syrian Rebels Now Is ‘Far Too Little Far Too Late’

‘The Syrian rebel movement has really died ... this is not going to change the course of the battle and could end up just sort of complicating things’

"Turkey and the U.S. finally signed a deal that allow Syrian rebels to be trained here in Turkey. But we are talking about a very small number of rebels. They would also only be given fairly light weapons, trucks, perhaps some machine guns mounted on the backs of the trucks, very little that could actually turn the tide of the battle. This is being perceived by many people, including some people who were big advocates for supporting the rebels, including the former U.S. ambassador Ford, as far too little far too late; that a Syrian rebels movement has really died; that this is not going to change the course of the battle and it could end up just sort of complicating things."
