O’Reilly: Jon Stewart’s Departure Proves Beyond Doubt Media Has Liberal Bias (Mediaite)

Bill O’Reilly argued tonight that the media coverage of Jon Stewart‘s Daily Show departure should be all the proof you need that the press has a clear liberal bias. Stewart has received praise in many corners after announcing he’s leaving later this year, including from plenty of cable news personalities (some MSNBC hosts admitted they think Stewart’s “better” than them at media criticism and doing the news).

O’Reilly figured that if he left or died, the media wouldn’t be quite so eager to heap praise on him.Juan Williams helped O’Reilly fluff his ego a bit by saying he dwarfs Stewart in the ratings, but Williams also said Stewart is the one guy the liberal media found who could take on the likes of Fox and Rush Limbaugh.

Mary Katharine Ham had some appreciative words for Stewart and the occasional tough interview he did with White House officials, but found the praise to be quite “overblown.” O’Reilly again said this shows beyond a shadow of a doubt that the press is “overwhelmingly liberal” and took heart in the fact that he speaks for “traditional” America as opposed to Stewart speaking for liberal America.
