Roger Stone Says He Was Indicted as ‘Payback’ for Helping Trump Win

‘There were more men and women to arrest me than were sent to capture and kill bin Laden’ ’

EXCERPT:

STONE: "There were more men and women sent to arrest me than were sent to capture and kill bin Laden. (Applause) There were more men and women sent to arrest me than to take down El Chapo or -- or Pablo Escobar. If I am so dangerous why was CNN allowed to film the storming of the house and my arrest? Why to poison the jury pool and make me look like public enemy number one? I have no prior criminal record. I am charged with non-violent process crimes. No Russian collusion, no WikiLeaks collaboration, no receipt of stolen material, including allegedly hacked or allegedly stolen emails, no conspiracy. And they worry that my speaking out will make it impossible to choose an impartial jury."
REPORTER: "What do you think is the motive of the special counsel, if you are not guilty, and you've done nothing wrong?"
STONE: "Because -- because I played a key role in electing Donald Trump president and defeating the most foul-mouthed, short tempered evil, self-centered kleptocrat in American history Hillary Clinton. So this is payback. That's all what is, is payback. And they may think that they can flip me and get me to testify against my friend of 40 years Donald Trump -- that's not going to happen."
