Heather McGee: Americans Eager to Pay Higher Taxes in Exchange for ‘Things to Help Make Ends Meet’

‘Universal child care, affordable education, housing, these are the things that I frankly would rather pay for socially instead of everyone paying too much privately’

EXCERPT:

McGHEE: “Infrastructure — you can have physical infrastructure and you can have social infrastructure. It's the infrastructure that builds economic opportunity. We have record economic inequality, record deficits, that's to a Republican set of tax cuts that mostly benefit the ultra wealthy. This is a time when we need to reinvest in the American dream. Those ideas are popular. This withstand this sort of imaginary suburban voter who thinks, oh no, the Government is coming for my money now. The majority of Americans would be willing to pay more taxes for things that would help them make ends meet. Universal child care, affordable education, housing, these are the things that I frankly would rather pay for socially instead of everyone paying too much privately.”
