GEIST: “I was just going to say, as Jackie said, the first bid from Democrats to the president was zero dollars on the wall. So they’re looking across the table. They watched President Trump scared over those 35 days of the shutdown, they watched the poll numbers bend in the favor of the Democrats. They have put now something on the table that is actually less than what they’ve supported previously. They’ve been for some version of the fence or some barrier along the wall in previous spending bills. They’ve stepped back from that even, because they know the guy across the table has been weakened by the shutdown. They know that they are now playing a stronger hand than he is.”
