Andrea Mitchell: Why Did Obama ‘Claim We’re Winning’ Against ISIS in SOTU?

MITCHELL: “So if that’s the case, is this going to continue to be a stalemate with ISIS grabbing hostages, executing them brutally, grabbing more territory and why would the present claim on the State of the Union that we’re winning this thing?"

SCHIFF: “Well, I don’t think it’s going to continue to be a stalemate and I think in Iraq in particular we’re making progress. We made progress in the Kurdish areas with the aid of the Peshmerga forces. We made some progress with the Iraqi Special Forces. And Iraq I think out of necessity is going to have to go first. We’re going to see progress in Iraq before we see any kind of progress in Syria. But that doesn’t mean that we need to have a major American combat mission there."
