Blitzer to GOP Rep: Does Trump ‘Understand the Enormity’ of the Pain of the Shutdown?

‘I don’t think Democrats can give all of these speeches about how they are so concerned when they are not willing to strike a deal of any sort’

RUSH EXCERPT:

BLITZER: “Do you believe the president appreciates the hardship this shutdown is causing not only to the 800,000 federal workers but to the millions of others that are indirectly effected by this. Do you think the president understands the enormity of this pain?”

KATKO: “They both should understand it. I think the president signalled he understands it but he sees that border security is such an important issue he is willing to stay the course no matter how tough it is. I don’t think Democrats can give all of these speeches about how they are so concerned when they are not willing to strike a deal of any sort. We all have to find proper balance. I tried to reach a solution. They both have to do that now. I urged them to do that and for the sake of the workers and for the sake of the country. We need compromise. It shouldn’t be a dirty word.”
