Fox News’ Chris Stirewalt: Trump Administration Looking for Border Wall Deal To ‘Save Face’

‘This is the first day where the shutdown is going to start to have much more real consequences’

RUSH EXCERPT:

STIREWALT: “The White House, this president has to decide what he’s willing to give up, what he’s willing to do in order to end the shut down. This is the first day where the shutdown is going to start to have much more real consequences and we’re talking about the earning power of nearly a million workers. We’re talking about consequences for people that are trying to use the government for citizens trying to use the government. So now the consequences start to stack up in a more consequential way. The administration is looking for a way to do a deal so the president can save face here. As soon as Nancy Pelosi takes over as speaker in earnest, the Democrats will start turning the pressure up from the house. They’ll start passing legislation to reopen the government. They’re going to start pushing forward legislation and probably get some Republican votes to reopen the government. So the pressure will increase on the administration. They have to find a climb down so the president can declare partial victory and get the government reopened. I didn’t hear anything today that said he’s a peace with some deal that he can make in order to save face here.”
