David Cicilline: ‘Notion’ Dems Don’t Support Border Security is ‘Silly,’ the Wall Is a 19th Century Solution for a 21st Century Problem

‘Let’s do things that will actually secure the border’

EXCERPT:

CICILLINE: "But the reality is, his Chief of Staff, General Kelly himself said, as incoming Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney both said, a border wall will not solve the problem. That it is a simple solution, a 19th century solution for a 21st century problem. Both of his Chief of Staffs have acknowledged that. so if the President were serious about border security, he would work with Democrats to enhance additional personnel, to use technology, use drones, use satellite, inspect cargo, things that will actually secure the border, but he doesn’t want to do that. He wants a shutdown because he wants a fight and what he doesn’t realize is there are over 800,000 federal employees whose lives have been adversely impacted, some devastated because of the shutdown. It hurts real people."
