MSNBC’s Mohyeldin: Trump’s Caving to Turkey on Syria to Get Them off Saudi Arabia on Khashoggi

‘The tone over criticism of Saudi Arabia has changed in the last several weeks’

EXCERPT:

MOHYELDIN: “But obviously, there’s something bigger at play here, Joe, and I think that's why a lot of people are scratching their heads. And I hate to be the kind of person to put this on the map, but you have to look at this in the geopolitics of what’s with going on with Saudi Arabia and Turkey. Keep in mind, President Trump has been trying to get the Turks off of Saudi Arabia's back since the Khashoggi killing. So they have been trying to get the Turks to say, like, 'Ease up on Saudi Arabia. You’re coming out with all this information that the Saudi Arabian crown prince was involved in the killing of this 'Washington Post' journalist. What is it going to take to get you guys to quiet down and make these demands that you want an investigation, international involvement to find out whether or not MBS ordered the killing and whether or not he was involved in it?' And what do you suddenly notice coming out of the Turks? The tone of Turkey's criticism of Saudi Arabia has changed over the last several weeks. That doesn't say that they’re not still fighting that fight, but they’re not doing in the same way with the constant leaks in the media, the constant pressure, the statements against the Saudi Arabian government."
