Dan Quayle on Bush 41’s Legacy: ‘I Wouldn’t Describe America Today as Kinder and Gentler’

‘Over 30 years, a lot has changed’

RUSH EXCERPT:

QUAYLE: “It’s very special. But as I watch the casket come up the stairs on the east side of the capital where I’m standing now, I couldn’t help but think almost 30 years ago what transpired on the west side of the capital. Because on the west side of the capitol, president George Bush was giving his inaugural address that time. He was talking about a Kinder, gentler nation. He talked about the day of the dictator is over. And today you see around the world the rise of authoritarianism. I wouldn’t describe America today as kinder and gentler. Over 30 years, a lot has changed.”
