Santorum Says Ted Cruz Did More Harm than Good to Republican Party

‘There isn’t a leader in the Republican Party right now; that’s part of the problem’

Rick Santorum: Cruz shutdown did more harm than good (The Raw Story)

Former Pennsylvania Senator turned conservative movie studio mogul Rick Santorum (R) said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sunday that freshman Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) did more to hurt the conservative cause than to support it with his government shutdown scheme.

Cruz, he said, is what happens when the Republican Party lacks leadership, allowing showboating opportunists to direct the media narrative.

“Unlike the Democratic Party, which has a leader, it has the president,” Santorum said, “there isn’t a leader in the Republican Party right now. That’s part of the problem, that’s part of the mess and the confusion.”
