MSNBC’s Wiley: Making It Harder for Blacks To Vote Makes It Harder for Whites To Vote

‘In October, there was a poll that showed only 51% of Americans had faith in our democracy’

RUSH EXCERPT:

WILEY: “That was a critical reason that was said and Florida wasn’t the only state to try to make it easy for citizens to vote. It’s a huge percentage of those people are black and Latino. Excused racially. I think the thing that’s so important is Republicans actually supported reenfranchising folks. It was bipartisan and at some point we have to come to grips in this country because we have, at least over the past decade, we have instances of Republican lawmakers making explicit statements, incing Brian Kemp in Georgia that Republicans will be in trouble if black people vote and Republicans will be in trouble if Latinos vote. To distract us from our democratic order which is our right to select the votes who lead us, that has to be a bipartisan endeavor. We suppress votes and make it difficult for citizens to vote, it impacts people who are white. There’s not one race that’s impacted by making more difficult. One thing we have to pay attention to, in October there was a poll that showed only 51% of Americans had faith in our democracy. 51%. That’s a shockingly low number and that has to be a bipartisan project.”
