Rep. John Lewis: Vote Is the Most Powerful Nonviolent Instrument or Tool that We Have

‘The vote is precious, it is almost sacred in a democracy such as ours’

EXCERPT:

MITCHELL: "What is your message to the the young people who have notably not been voting in the past, in terms of how important the fight for the vote is?"
LEWIS: "I have been saying to young people and it does not matter whether they are black or white or Latino or Asian-American, I am saying that the vote is precious. It's almost sacred in a democracy such as ours. It is the most powerful nonviolent instrument or tool that we have and we must use it to bring about change. Maybe someone of you maybe can become the governor of Georgia or the mayor of the city of Atlanta, a member of Congress, or the president of the United States,  dream dreams, and never, give up. Be hopeful, be optimistic."
