With the midterms approaching, and President Trump warning that the so-called migrant caravan will not be welcomed into the United States, many on the left have recently called for dialing down America’s heated political rhetoric.

These calls took on even more urgency after a spate of terror attacks last week.

Yet despite these calls for restraint, many on the left only appear to be ramping the rhetoric up.

In recent days, the media has … called Trump “evil” no fewer than 12 times, likened him to Adolf Hitler at least 10 times, warned that Republicans risk eternal damnation for not sufficiently “taking on” Trump, and even said that the president “poses a profound danger to … literally every inhabitant on Planet Earth.”

In a recent segment on MSNBC, contributor Elie Mystal said that the president is delivering on his promises of “racism,” “misogyny,” and could be ushering in a “1,000 year reich.”

After saying Americans need to stop “demonizing” each other, CNN’s Don Lemon said white people are “the biggest terror threat in this country.”

“So, we have to stop demonizing people and realize the biggest terror threat in this country is white men, most of them radicalized to the right, and we have to start doing something about them,” Lemon said. “There is no travel ban on them. … There is no white guy ban.“

While discussing Trump’s comments on the migrant caravan, MSNBC’s Steve Schmidt apocalyptically warned: “On any given moment, the combination of his erratic behavior, his ignorance could pose a profound danger to every single person in this country and literally every inhabitant of the planet Earth.”

GQ’s Julia Ioffe, who has been tweeting that President Trump is to blame for the terror attack at a Pittsburgh synagogue, told CNN’s Jake Tapper that Trump “has radicalized so many more people than ISIS ever did.”

During an MSNBC segment on overheated political rhetoric Saturday, Howard Dean used the opportunity to tar President Trump as “evil” and a “cult” leader.

“This has now become a struggle about good versus evil,” Dean said. “And the president of the United States is evil."

Asked about how Trump uses the influence he has, the Vermont Democrat said Trump is running “a giant cult.”

Dean somehow managed to call Trump “evil” six times in a single response:

DEAN: “Look, the young people in this country are not with this sort of evil, nasty, authoritarianism you see now the Republican Party has become. They’re not. And 69 percent of people under 30 voted for Ralph Northam. Ralph Northam is not a Bernie Sanders, Ralph Northam is a centrist Democrat. The young people in this country are sick of this. They’re now realizing, as of 2016, that their vote controls their future. If we fail, they have no future in America. They know it. So I think we are going to do well, I think we are going to take back the country. Look, evil lurks in the hearts of men. It does. What Trump has tapped into is evil. Eventually we’ll overcome that. Because the Republicans are always about the past and they’re always about the fear of the future. Democrats have made plenty of mistakes, but they are about the future and idealism, and making America a better place. I think, in the end, hope wins over evil. But it takes a long time and both of those lurk in human kind. And that’s what this struggle is about. This has now become a struggle about good versus evil. And the President of the United States is evil.”

And that’s just a sampling. Check out the montage above to see how seriously the left is taking these calls for rhetorical restraint.
