Scarborough: Trump Shows a ‘Willful, Willing Ignorance of History’

‘This is the danger when people like Donald Trump and Jared Kushner run around and say they don’t need to read history’

EXCERPT:

SCARBOROUGH: "Donald Trump — if anybody else said what Donald Trump just said there, they would be castigated as a fool. This is, of course, this is the danger when people like Donald Trump and Jared Kushner run around and say they don’t need to read history. If you read history all you see is people that have been failing through the years. Of course, both of them coming into office not realizing the United States was the most powerful, the wealthiest and most respected country on the planet. But for Donald Trump to say that you don’t know whether the E.U or NATO has had an extraordinary impact on the United States and allowed us to be by far the most powerful country on the planet, and I would suggest over those 50 years most powerful country since the Roman Empire, just shows a complete lack of understanding and a complete ignorance of history. A willful, willing ignorance of history, and this guy is President of the United States. You don’t know? That’s like saying you don’t know that the Red Sox beat the Astros last night. Yes. Yes, we do. Because we stayed up and watched it. He did not — this is a guy — this is a guy who just didn’t read books growing up. He doesn’t know the basics of American history."
