A Kentucky police officer had his gut and his pride wounded over the weekend when his gun accidentally went off, sending a bullet ricocheting off the walls of a Cincinnati elevator that he and his wife were in and hitting him in the stomach, police said. And it was all caught on camera.

The officer, Darryl Jouett, a 25-year veteran of the Erlanger Police Department who was off-duty at the time, was removing the gun from his holster as he and his wife were heading to their car Saturday night, Cincinnati police said in a statement.

Surveillance video shows Jouett removing his gun from a holster under his coat with his right hand, then trying to put it back, while holding a box and a bag in his left hand.
