Two Plain-Clothes Police Officers Shot and Wounded in the Bronx

The cops are expected to recover

NN MALE HOST: "We have some breaking news this morning. In the Bronx, two NYPD plain clothes officers are shot by an armed robber."

HUDDY: "Right now there is a manhunt underway for at least one of those suspects. Fox 5 Robert Moses is live outside St. Barnabas hospital in the Bronx where one of the officers is now in critical condition. Robert, bring us up to date."

MOSES: "Ben and Juliet good morning to you. Throughout the early morning hours we have seen officers coming and going here from St. Barnabas. Here is what we know about the condition of those two officers. There is a 30-year-old who was shot in the left arm and back. He is undergoing surgery and is in critical but stable condition. The 38-year-old officer who was shot in the arm and chest is in stable condition. The good news here is that they both are expected to make full recovery. Here is what we know so far. Police say that around 10:30 last night two suspects robbed the grocery store on East 184th Street. About ten minutes later these plain clothes officers from the 46th precinct responded and spotted the man at a Chinese restaurant at a 184th Street and Tiebout Avenue. This is some new surveillance video that we just got. You can see one of the suspects and then you can suspect fire on those two officers. Police fired back. Both of the officers were hit. Then the suspects fled on foot from that restaurant and car jacked a white Chevy Camaro about a block away. Police later found that car crashed nearby. Earlier this morning we heard from the mayor here at St. Barnabas."
