When historians look back and write about 2014, one possible theme they'll zero in on is the way race came to dominate the news. And with a number of high-profile incidents, that's not entirely surprising.

But 2014 is also notable for being a year when almost everything somehow tied back to racism. 

American history ... racist.

The police ... racist.

Football injuries ... racist.

VH-1's "Sorority Sisters" ... racist.  

Not embracing a black James Bond ... racist.

Name a major news story, and you can be sure someone on TV examined it through a racial lens.
