‘An Outrageous Lie’: CNN’s Burnett, Giuliani Face Off over Police, Black Crime (Mediaite)

CNN’s Erin Burnett faced off with former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani tonight over policing in minority communities and black crime. Giuliani was offended by the suggestion that the NYPD is unfairly targeting black people because it’s a racist, almost all-white organization.

He said the NYPD isn’t even majority-white and the thought of there being systemic racism within the department is “an outrageous lie.”

Burnett confronted Giuliani with some statistics about blacks being targeted by the police, but Giuliani dismissively said, “Statistics don’t tell you anything.” He wanted to know the specific circumstances of what these black individuals did to warrant them being shot down by cops.
