Detroit Police Chief: When Will Leaders Step up in Support of the Police?

"Our men and women who wear this uniform, they go out and serve our community with distinction, with integrity. And when we take one or two incidents and then paint our police officers with this broad brush, that all law enforcement is bad, that certainly sends the wrong message. And so as we support those who want to peacefully protest, we embrace it here in Detroit. We’ve had peaceful protests, but the line is crossed when we start calling for cops to be killed or dead cops. 'That’s what we want.' Is that really what we want? And then where are the voices from the leaders? When do the leaders step up in support of our police officers and say, 'You know what? That’s not acceptable.'”
