Jack Keane on North Korea’s Dismantlement Offer: ‘It’s Obviously Progress’

‘We should give them credit for that’

RUSH EXCERPT:

KEANE: "Yeah, that’s a step forward. We should give them credit for that. They have never committed independent inspectors before. What are we going to see? We’re going to see the destruction of a rocket engine test site and also a missile launch site used to put their satellites up in orbit. They’ll have independent inspectors observing that. Good thing. But it’s not disarmorment. It’s not nuclear weapons. It’s not ballistic missiles. And that clearly is the main issue. What we’ve been pressing for, we’ll see that this is progress. But what we really want, we want a list of all of their nuclear sites, all of their ballistic sites, we want the verify that existence against the list that we have from our intelligence agencies and then we want to see some reasonable timeline to denuclearize all of those sites. In other words, destroy them with independent inspectors on site."
