Bret Baier: Hurricanes a Dangerous Time Not Just for Those on the Coast But Also Politically If Not Handled Correctly

‘There are a lot of critics about Puerto Rico’

EXCERPT:

PERINO: "Bret, when a storm like this is bearing down on the United States it’s all hands on deck from the federal, state, and local government perspective. And I wanted to get your take on just how important those are. You've covered a lot of these and you and I were together of course during hurricane Katrina, but there's been many since."
BAIER: "There have been. And -- and you know, that starts at the top. And they start this process right away as they get these hurricanes barreling in towards the East Coast or wherever in the U.S.. The president is going to be meeting with the defense — rather, the Department of Homeland Security secretary, the FEMA administrator. And the coronation starts in earnest between the federal, state, and local officials. They've seen positive efforts like that in Houston. It was seen as really a success story. There are a lot of critics about Puerto Rico, but is a dangerous time, not only for the people on the coast, but also, frankly, down the road politically if it’s not handled correctly."
