Charlie Dent: With McCain Gone, I Don’t Know That Enough People Will Heed His Advice and Reach Across the Aisle

‘I think that’s the tragedy here’

RUSH EXCERPT:

DENT: "It certainly was delivered. Whether or not it will be received is another matter. There are always acts of bipartisanship in Congress, but I think John McCain recognized the tribal nature of the politics. The litmus test has become loyalty to a man, to the president Donald Trump. On the democratic side, it seems the party is moving very hard left, and there’s this space in the center, and that the political rewards for the members of Congress are really not in terms of compromise or consensus if governing, it’s to play to the bases. I think that’s the tragedy here. And John McCain certainly wanted us to try to arrive at that consensus. I don’t know that enough people are going to heed his advice."
