AMAR: "The most important task of the Supreme Court justice is to get the Constitution right, study it with care, the Supreme Court decides things beyond the Constitution, but constitutional issues are most important. And having read a lot of Brett Kavanaugh’s opinions and speeches, articles and essays, I have come to the conclusion that he has studied the Constitution with care. It is a hard thing for lower court judge to do because lower court judges, most of the docket is not constitutional issues so you have to do it to some extent on the side to do research and study and Brett Kavanaugh in my view has done that and he has studied the Constitution with more care than any other federal judge I know who would likely be nominated by a republican President."
