Jim Webb on His Own Party: Democrats Have Become a ‘Party of Interest Groups’

‘The very people who would have a natural affinity for what the Democratic party used to offer feel alienated. They feel the Democratic party doesn’t want them’

Dem 2016 Hopeful: Democrats Have Become ‘A Party of Interest Groups’ (Washington Free Beacon)

Former senator and potential Democratic presidential candidate Jim Webb discussed the “political paralysis” in Washington during a speech in Richmond on Tuesday.

According to Webb, much of the paralysis comes from the Democratic Party, which has lost its way.

“The Democratic Party has basically turned into a party of interest groups,” Webb said.

Voters among the traditional Democratic base turned against their party in the past election, primarily because they feel alienated from the party they once believed represented their interests.

“They feel the Democratic Party doesn’t want them,” Webb said.
