EXCERPT:

O'DONNELL: "And he did so in very Trump-like fashion, using the phrase 'inconceivable' a couple of times, that the government would carry out the kind of search it did on Michael Cohen against a lawyer. That is unusual but not unprecedented. And then further saying it is, 'inconceivable that a lawyer would tape a client, totally unheard of,' he says, 'and perhaps illegal.' Hard to say how unusual it is, but typically there is legal basis for this. A one-party consent state like New York would allow one person involved in the conversation to make the recording without the other one knowing it. It raises questions about the relationship of lawyer and client, if that's appropriate, but that is something the President certainly feels, by the sense of it, you get the sense he's suggesting it was improper for Cohen to do that. And then sort of the tagline of the day, 'The good news is that your favorite president,' implying he is the favorite president of the American people, 'did nothing wrong.' So there's a lot in that. The President commenting on it. He's not denying that his voice is on the tape. So there's an acknowledgement there, but expressing frustration and certainly distancing himself from Michael Cohen who had long served as one of his confidants and a senior official in the Trump Organization."
