Fmr US Ambassador Says Trump Cannot Be Trusted: Russian Meddling Denial ‘Borders Virtual Treason’ (Mediaite)

Max Baucus, the former U.S. ambassador to China, ripped the Trump Administration apart for even thinking about accepting the dealVladimir Putin offered over Robert Mueller‘s Russia probe.

During the summit in Helsinki earlier this week, Putin said his government would cooperate with the 2016 election-meddling investigation, but in exchange, Russia would get to interrogate former US ambassador Michael McFaul, Magnitsky Act champion Bill Browder, and other officials. When White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was asked about the deal, she said Trump would “meet with his team” about it.

McFaul is demanding that the White House reject the “ridiculous” request, and when CNN’s Poppy Harlow asked Baucus about this, he called it a “preposterous” and “one-way” deal that would weaken the standing of America’s diplomats.
