Sen. Gardner: We Can’t Care More About the Security of Europe than They Care About Their Own Security

‘This is something that presidents in the past have talked about’

EXCERPT:

FAULKNER: "Let's get more on this now. Republican Colorado Senator Cory Gardner, sits on the Foreign Relations Committee, GARDNER: "No, not at all. I think if you look at statements made by President Obama, now President Trump, all talking about the fact that NATO, our allies, and I do consider them all good allies, need to contribute more toward their collective defense. Our alliance is strong. But the fact is, it will be stronger if they live up to their agreements. This isn’t anything new that President Trump came up with, this is something that presidents in the past have talked about. We simply can’t care more about the security of governments in Europe than the governments of Europe care about their own security. And this is proof that they’re going to put skin in the game, so to speak, if they actually contribute up to their NATO commitment."
