Schumer in 2013: We Would Prefer Up-or-Down Votes Over Obstruction

‘That’s the bottom line, no matter who’s in power’

FLASHBACK: Schumer: We Would Prefer Up-Or-Down Votes Over Obstruction (NTK Network)

In November 2013, Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) declared after the Senate voted to eliminate the filibuster, “[Democrats would] much prefer the risk of up-or-down votes in majority rule than the risk of continued total obstruction. That’s the bottom line, no matter who’s in power.”

Today, however, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is singing a different tune, calling on fellow Senate Democrats to filibuster President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Judge Neil Gorsuch, for political reasons.

When Democrats were in power, Schumer was fine changing the rules of the Senate to fit his parties agenda, but now that Democrats finds themselves in the minority, it appears Schumer sees things differently.
