Beckel: We’re Refighting ObamaCare Because ‘Stupid Idiots’ Didn’t Follow Before? (Mediaite)

On Fox News’ The Five today, Bob Beckel adamantly insisted multiple times that Jonathan Gruber is not a big story, and said revisiting the health care law would only be for the benefit of “stupid idiots” who weren’t paying attention the first time around. He was going off a suggestion put out there by his co-hosts that in the light of all this, a revote for Obamacare might be in order.

Beckel repeatedly insisted that Obamacare got plenty of coverage when it was publicly debated in 2009 and early 2010, and so was not as lacking in transparency as Gruber made it sound. This really set off all of Beckel’s co-hosts, who told him that really wasn’t the case. Eric Bolling said, “The stupid idiots you’re talking about are your fellow Democrats.” He trashed The New York Times for saying the law wasn’t part of some sinister trickery.

Beckel brought up all the town hall meetings in 2009 when Republicans got an earful from angry constituents, and how that got a lot of coverage. Dana Perino shot back that the tone of the coverage was mockery towards those people.
