Sen. Sanders: Not Building Keystone Is a ‘No Brainer’

‘To go forward and drill some of the dirtiest oil in the world to make the climate change situation even worse is completely unimaginable’

"If we don’t transform our energy system away from fossil fuel to energy efficiency and sustainable energy, the planet that we will leave to our children and our grandchildren is going to be a lot less habitable than the one that we've enjoyed. This really is a no brainer. To go forward and accelerate the drilling of some of the dirtiest oil in the world to make the climate change situation even worse is completely unimaginable ...

There’s a lot of discussion about this being a 'jobs' program. We desperately need a federal jobs program. This ain’t it. This is 50. That’s 5-0 permanent jobs and several thousand two year or less construction jobs. What we need to do is create millions of decent paying jobs rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure, our bridges and our roads. That’s what we need to do, not this Keystone XL pipeline."
