Sean Spicer: Daily W.H. Press Briefings Aren’t ‘Worth It’

Sean Spicer: Daily WH Press Briefings Aren’t ‘Worth It’ (Mediaite)

Former Donald Trump press secretary Sean Spicer says that the daily White House press briefings no longer provide substantial information to the public and are not worth doing anymore.

C-SPAN’s Steve Scully interviewed Spicer on Sunday for Washington Journal, and he asked whether daily briefings are still “relevant.” Even though Spicer said that the Communications Department should still take media questions on a daily basis, the former press secretary added, “I think that the time and effort that it takes to get that briefing going and what you get in return is not worth it.”

“I think that the press office should be available, as they are, to give the press responses and updates as to what’s going on at the White House, but I think the daily briefing is sort of worth re-examining… I think a morning gaggle and selected days where you do an on-camera one is worth it, but the briefing has become more of a show than an outlet of information for the media.”
