Rand Paul: ‘Past Time’ to Leave Afghanistan, Spend Instead on U.S. Infrastructure
‘I have long been a critic of both our current lack of strategic mission in Afghanistan, and of the colossal waste of taxpayer dollars there’
EXCERPT:
PAUL: "Experts estimate that we've had to destroy billions of dollars in military equipment that's too expensive to bring home. My staff didn't get to see the $43 million natural gas station built in a country that has no natural gas cars, because no one could tell them for sure if the gas station still existed. It was too dangerous to go there. The waste in Afghanistan is staggering, confirming my opinion that it's long past time to come home."
