Middle East Scholar on Obama’s Air Strikes-Only Fight Against ISIS: ‘Completely Crazy’ (CNS News)

Speaking to a reporter on National Public Radio on Thursday, Juan Cole, a Middle East scholar and professor at the University of Michigan, called the Obama administration’s air strikes-only approach to fighting the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in both those countries “completely crazy.”

"The idea that you could roll this back with air strikes, that the air strikes aren't vigorous enough — I mean, that's completely crazy," Cole said, adding that some of Iraq’s Sunni minority may be supporting the terrorist group because of oppression by the Shiite-led government.
