ACLJ’s CeCe Heil: Turkey Is Using Pastor Brunson as ‘a Political Hostage and a Bargaining Chip’

‘I wouldn’t recommend that any United States citizen travel there’

EXCERPT:

EARHARDT: "How are Christians treated in Turkey?"
HEIL: "Well, they are definitely, you know, extreme minority. And Turkey used to really pride itself in religious freedom. It seems like under President Erdogan’s rule in a state of emergency, that’s no longer the case."
EARHARDT: "Is it safe for Americans to travel there?"
HEIL: "My personal opinion would be no. Obviously they are using this American citizen as a political hostage and a bargaining chip. I wouldn’t recommend that any United States citizen travel there."
