Manchin: Dem Senate Candidates ‘Have Voted Against the President’

‘I don’t think the president can help in those states there’

Manchin: Dem Senate Candidates ‘Have Voted Against the President’ (National Review Online)

Senator Joe Manchin (D., W.Va.) sought to distance Democratic senators in tight races from President Obama, despite the president’s recent insistence that they fully support his agenda.

Senator Manchin touted what he called a “moderate team” of Democratic senators up for reelection, listing Senators Mark Begich (Ala.), Kay Hagan (N.C.), Mark Pryor (Ark.), Jeanne Shaheen (N.H.), Mark Udall (Colo.), Mary Landrieu (La.), and Mark Warner (Va.) as moderates who frequently compromise with their Republican and independent colleagues.

“I don’t think the president can help in those states,” Manchin told Charlie Rose onFace the Nation Sunday. “Those people have voted against the president on issues.”
