WEINGARTEN: “Exactly right. This is the abandonment of our future, plain and simple. Look, you have people like Melissa all throughout this state. You have people like Melissa all throughout this country. They are exploited because they love kids. This is a fantastic teacher. But we should not be building our future on exploitation. We should have teachers paid a living wage where they can actually spend the time nurturing and molding and seeing kids for who they are and lifting them up."
