Today’s shooting of a soldier by what appears to be a lone gunman outside of Canadian Parliament in Ottawa has given Americans a glimpse into how our neighbors to the north cover breaking news on television. Various media commentators on Twitter have drawn attention to the difference in style between someone like CBC anchor Peter Mansbridge and American anchors on networks like CNN.

Now, Mother Jones’ James West has highlighted one clip, seen below, in which Mansbridge clearly explains the lack on information available without resorting to the type of wild speculation so often seen on American cable news.
