Jackie Speier: ‘Premature’ Report on Russia ‘Is a Gross Dereliction of Duty’

SPEIER: "I think the ranking member did an excellent job of providing you with the backdrop. Let me just suggest a few things. First of all, this is a gross dereliction of duty by the Republican majority to put out this report. The chair on Fox News referred to it as a wound and it struck me that that’s how the president of the Republicans see it, as a wound that they don’t want to have to continue to fester so let’s just put a band-aid on it and shut it down. This has never been an independent investigation and I think this report once it becomes public will suggest to the American people that this is a play book from the president that has been recalibrated to be a report from the intelligence committee. This report was cooked before it was ever baked and it’s a truly desperate attempt, I think, by the majority to undermine what is a very important function."
