Fla. GOP Rep. Matt Caldwell: Sheriff Israel Should Resign or the Governor Should Remove Him

CALDWELL: "Yeah, I think we absolutely do know enough. Not only should he resign, but if he refuses to, I think the governor should remove him. You look what happened in this incident where the deputies failed to respond, failed to go inside. We’re hearing now news reports this morning that that may have been because they didn’t have body cameras. They were told not to go inside. A lot of questions in that regard. Even worse, you look at the incidences that happened before the shooting. All of the times which somebody called and said, 'Hey, this guy has problems. Hey, this guy is doing something criminal.' And we have stories and reports coming out of Broward and Dade County that this actually might be coordinated. That the sheriff's office and the school district, in order to game their numbers and look like they're doing better than they are, weren't actually arresting kids who were committing real crimes."
