Bill Nelson: Teachers with Hand Guns Can’t Have a Fair Fight Against Attacker with Assault Weapons

‘If the weapon is a high caliber rapid fire assault weapon, it is hard to go into a fight against that if you’ve got just a handgun’

RUSH EXCERPT:
NELSON: "I think it is a terrible idea. You know, I was so impressed on the TV of the students, what they were saying to the president. And then the president comes out with suggestions like that. You heard what the superintendent said. He doesn’t want to have to arm teachers. The sheriff came up with a suggestion that he’s going to have a deputy that will be armed. But that deputy can’t be in all of your buildings in a school of 3,000 students. It will help if it’s a deterrent, it’s good, but if the weapon is a high caliber rapid fire assault weapon, it is hard to go into a fight against that if you’ve got just a handgun. That’s not a fair fight. So get the assault weapons out."
