MSNBC: 67 Percent in New Poll Support a Ban on Assault Weapons

‘66% of Americans support tougher gun laws’

SCARBOROUGH: “And when they go, they're going to see that new polling that support for gun control has hit record highs. According to a new Quinnipiac University poll, 66 percent of Americans support tougher gun laws. That’s the highest percentage recorded since the Quinnipiac started polling the issue after Sandy Hook. 97 percent of Americans — we've always said 90 percent — 97 percent of Americans support requiring background checks for gun buyers with the same amount of support among gun owners and also finds that 83 percent support a mandatory waiting period for all gun purchases. And by the way, the Supreme Court yesterday left a 10-day waiting period, ruled — well, didn’t get involved in the case to allow that 10-day waiting period to remain valid. And 67 percent of those surveyed support a nationwide ban on the sale of assault weapons."
