BURNS: "And obviously the elephant in the room is that our president is not defending our democracy. That the Russians launched this attack. That every prior president would have formed a national commission, would have raised our defenses and would have helped the Europeans fend off similar attacks and that Kislyak and the Russian government should expect this from the United States, that we’re going fight back and defend our elections. And, of course, I asked him, I said, 'You know, this all happened on your watch, you must have known about this or must have been involved,' and, of course, he filibustered and prevaricated and lied about it, but that’s what Soviet-trained diplomats like Kislyak do."
