Will: Obama Expanding ISIS Fight, but Not Providing Resources Needed To Get it Done

Will’s Take: Obama Expanding ISIS Fight, but Not Providing Resources Needed to Get It Done (National Review Online)

The White House’s strategy for defeating the Islamic State has largely proved to be ineffective thus far, and the jihadist militants’ advancement in the region is sure to complicate the situation even further, George Will said on Tuesday’s Special Report. The comments come as the Islamic State is reportedly threatening to take the Syrian city of Kobani on the Turkish border.

“The president has widened the war, expanded its objectives, but not widened and expanded the military resources available to this,” he said.

Will added that Turkey’s priorities differ from that of the United States in this circumstance, as President Tayyip Erdoğan has stated the top objective should be ousting Syrian president Bashar al-Assad, while the U.S. has aimed to take out the Islamic State as its leading goal.
