At a late Friday afternoon press conference on Ebola, White House correspondent for The New York Times Michael Shear grilled senior administration officials over the failure to prevent someone with the virus from entering the United States.

"At every step of the way there were break downs," Shear said. "It feels like to Americans like you guys are up here talking about we have this great and perfect system that's going to be able to, you know, contain this virus because we have done all this preparation and yet it doesn't look like it's working."

"How should the average person have confidence?" Shear asked.
